Complete cue care bundle for pool, snooker and billiards cues

The Crafted Cues Cue Care Bundle brings together everything you need for regular cue maintenance, deeper cleaning and occasional refurbishment. Whether you want to give your playing cue a quick clean after a match or properly clean, fill, oil and finish an ash shaft, it is all here in one kit.

Chalk dust, hand oils, sweat, dirt and general use can gradually change how a cue feels through the bridge hand. Left for long enough, wooden shafts can also begin to feel dry, rough or noticeably open through the grain.

This bundle gives you options for both quick maintenance and more thorough cue care, including cleaning wipes for convenient everyday use, cleaner and conditioner for a deeper clean, grain filler, cue oil and balm for wooden shafts, plus a cue towel and reusable cleaning sponge.

What is included?

  • Crafted Cues Cue Balm - 30g reusable metal pot
  • Crafted Cues Cue Cleaner / Conditioner
  • 4 x Crafted Cues Premium Cue Cleaning Wipes - 2 Cedar and 2 Teak
  • Crafted Cues Cue Towel
  • Crafted Cues Cue Oil - 60ml
  • Crafted Cues Grain Filler - 30g reusable metal pot
  • Magic Cleaning Sponge

What each product is for

Crafted Cues Cue Balm
The finishing stage of the cue-care process. Crafted Cues Cue Balm is made from natural ingredients including beeswax and essential oils and is designed to condition and protect the surface of the cue while leaving the shaft feeling smooth through the bridge hand.

Crafted Cues Cue Cleaner / Conditioner
Designed to remove chalk, hand oils, sweat and everyday grime that can build up on a cue and create a sticky or slow feeling through the bridge hand. The cleaner is applied to a cloth rather than directly to the cue, helping clean the surface without unnecessarily soaking the wood.

Crafted Cues Premium Cue Cleaning Wipes
Four individually packed, pre-moistened wipes for quick cue maintenance at home, at the club or during competition. Each bundle contains two Cedar and two Teak fragranced wipes.

Each wipe measures approximately 14cm x 18cm and is designed to remove everyday chalk, dirt, oils and residue without needing to get the full cue care kit out. They are particularly handy for regular maintenance between deeper cleans.

Crafted Cues Cue Towel
Included for wiping down your cue, removing excess product and buffing the shaft during the cleaning and maintenance process. It also gives you a dedicated cue-care towel rather than borrowing whatever happens to be nearby.

Crafted Cues Cue Oil
A treatment oil designed for wooden cue shafts including ash and maple. It penetrates into the timber to nourish and protect the wood while helping create the smooth, conditioned finish players expect from a well-maintained cue.

Crafted Cues Grain Filler
Designed specifically for ash shafts, where the naturally open grain can become increasingly noticeable over time. The filler works into the pores and grain lines of the wood to create a smoother base before oiling and finishing the shaft.

Magic Cleaning Sponge
A reusable cleaning sponge designed to help tackle deeper, built-up grime. It can be used dry or alongside the Crafted Cues Cleaner / Conditioner when a cue needs more attention than a simple wipe-down.

Quick maintenance or full cue care?

You do not need to carry out the full process every time you play. The bundle gives you different levels of maintenance depending on what your cue needs.

  • Quick clean: use one of the cleaning wipes to remove everyday dirt, chalk and hand oils.
  • Regular clean: use the Cue Cleaner / Conditioner with the cue towel or a clean lint-free cloth.
  • Deeper clean: use the Cleaner / Conditioner with the Magic Cleaning Sponge where more stubborn grime has built up.
  • Full wooden shaft treatment: clean the shaft, use grain filler where appropriate, apply cue oil and finish with cue balm.

How to deep clean and treat a wooden cue shaft

For a more thorough cue-care session, work through the products in stages rather than applying everything at once.

  1. Clean the shaft: lightly apply the Cue Cleaner / Conditioner to a clean lint-free cloth rather than spraying directly onto the wood. Wipe along the shaft, concentrating on areas where chalk, oils and grime have built up.
  2. Use the cleaning sponge if needed: for heavier built-up grime, use the Magic Cleaning Sponge with the cleaner. Avoid unnecessary pressure and work gradually.
  3. Dry and buff: use the cue towel or a clean, dry microfibre cloth to remove any remaining cleaner and make sure the shaft is completely dry.
  4. Apply grain filler where appropriate: for ash shafts, work a small amount of grain filler into the open grain. Allow it to settle and dry according to the product instructions before removing excess residue.
  5. Apply cue oil: apply a small amount of oil to a clean cloth and work it evenly into the wooden shaft. Crafted Cues recommends approximately 3-4 drops rather than saturating the wood.
  6. Remove excess oil: allow the oil to soak in briefly before buffing away any excess with a clean, dry cloth.
  7. Allow the oil to cure: for best results, allow the cue sufficient time outside its case for the oil to settle and cure before further treatment or regular play.
  8. Finish with cue balm: apply a light layer of balm to the shaft, allow it to settle, then buff thoroughly with the cue towel or a clean microfibre cloth.
  9. Final buff: continue buffing until the shaft feels dry, smooth and natural through the bridge hand.

Always follow the individual product instructions and use care when working on your cue. Cue materials and finishes vary, particularly between older cues, handmade cues and cues with lacquered or treated surfaces.

Made for regular cue maintenance

You do not have to wait until your cue feels terrible before looking after it. Regular cleaning helps prevent chalk, sweat and hand oils from becoming heavily built up, while occasional treatment helps keep wooden shafts properly maintained.

For league and competition players, the cleaning wipes are useful for the quick jobs. For cues that have seen months of regular play, the cleaner, sponge, oil, filler and balm give you the tools for a much more thorough treatment.

It also makes a strong gift for someone who has invested in a decent cue but is still cleaning it with the nearest bit of kitchen roll.

Suitable for different cue materials

Different parts of the bundle have different uses. The Cue Cleaner / Conditioner is designed for ash, maple and carbon fibre shafts as well as lacquered butts, while the Grain Filler is specifically intended for ash shafts.

Cue Oil and Cue Balm are intended primarily for appropriate wooden surfaces, so always consider the construction and existing finish of your cue before applying treatment products.

Why use a proper cue care kit?

A cue is constantly exposed to chalk, moisture, oils from your hands and changes in temperature and humidity. Over time, all of that can affect how the shaft looks and feels.

A proper cue-care routine gives you much more control than simply sanding a shaft whenever it starts to feel rough. Cleaning products help remove surface contamination, while filler, oil and balm allow you to maintain the wood itself when needed.

For anyone who plays regularly, it is a useful bit of kit to have ready before a small maintenance job turns into a much bigger one.
